      Microwaved Chocolate-Cinnamon Rolls

It was great fun to have Zach Dunn and fellow students from Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif. come to my home to film Student Association sponsored shows called Food For Thought. The shows can be seen by going to the Helpful Links page of this website.

We filmed recipes to cook in a dorm room where resources are limited. What's a student to do when they have a craving for a warm cinnamon roll in the middle of the night? Make one in the microwave, of course!

  • 1 T. chocolate morsels
  • ¾ t. honey
  • 1 ½ t. chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 canned refrigerated cinnamon roll

In a microwavable mug, place chocolate morsels, honey and nuts if desired. Place one roll over ingredients. Microwave mug on high setting for 45 seconds. Take from microwave and loosen around the edges of the roll with a knife. Turn the mug upside down onto a plate (it can be paper!) and leave inverted for 45 seconds. Remove mug and frost the roll with frosting included with the rolls. Best enjoyed while hot! Serves 1

Note

  • To prepare more than one roll at the same time, add another 45 seconds to the directions for each additional mug.
  • To make 8 rolls, use ½ c. chocolate morsels, 2 T. honey, ¼ c. nuts and 1 12.4 oz. pkg. canned refrigerated cinnamon rolls.
  • Measuring really isn’t needed. Just drop the ingredients into the cup in about the right amounts.
  • M&M’s don’t work. Trust me! But I think other chocolate bars cut in pieces would be great.
